Day 131: What does it mean for Jesus to be the Messiah?

Today we read Mark 5-8, Psalm 21, and 23. It’s a set of stories about Jesus meant to help explain to the Romans who Jesus is in terms they understand related to Him as an amazing teacher and healer. This story also introduces to all how Jesus is the Messiah, the one the Old Testament pointed to and the Israelites had been waiting for, but not in the way many expected - not as a military victor but as a sacrificial servant who yielded it all to save us, to redeem us.
