Day 135: Will We Choose Faith or Fear?

Today we read Mark 15-16, and Psalm 22. This story ends the gospel according to Mark. We’re reminded that Mark’s audience were the Romans and biblical scholars see this telling of Jesus’s crucifixion as a description of the nine steps to become an emperor, a king. Except the initial intent seems to be a mockery, until the end, when the Roman centurion acknowledged that Jesus is the Messiah. Shalom instead of empire is the way. The story ends with a question, will the Roman’s choose faith or fear?
